Where they take off and what you see
One operator that publishes its routes and prices is Helisight ↗, with departures from the Lagoa heliport (Av. Borges de Medeiros) and from Morro da Urca, in the Sugarloaf Mountain cable car (Bondinho) complex. According to its website:
- Short coastal flight: 6 to 7 minutes over the Lagoa, Ipanema, Arpoador, Copacabana, and Leme, for R$ 640 per person ↗.
- Christ the Redeemer flight: 7 to 8 minutes over the Lagoa, Jardim Botânico, Christ the Redeemer, and Sugarloaf Mountain, for R$ 920 per person ↗.
- Longer flights: the same operator lists routes of up to R$ 3,710 per person and requires a minimum of 3 to 5 passengers depending on the helicopter.

How to check that the operator is authorized
Scenic passenger flights may only be operated by companies authorized by ANAC. The agency offers three public tools:
- Voe Seguro ↗: search for the company by legal name, CNPJ, or trade name. It lists the authorized air taxi and scenic flight companies.
- List of air taxi companies ↗: ANAC updates it every week.
- Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB) ↗: with the helicopter's registration (the letters painted on the fuselage), you can check that the aircraft is registered.
Ask the operator for its CNPJ before you pay. If they don't have it handy, only communicate through a free email account, or don't appear in Voe Seguro, choose another company.
When to fly

You can get the same views from the ground at Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer, at Vista Chinesa or Pedra Bonita, or from the water, on a Guanabara Bay boat trip. If you depart from Morro da Urca, you can combine the flight with a visit to the Urca neighborhood.
