Before you leave
Save the exact address of your accommodation and its arrival instructions. Check which airport is on your ticket and arrange the transfer to that address. Work out your budget by category (accommodation, transportation, food and activities) and set aside a margin for changes of plan.
Getting around
Check the MetrôRio map and service notices for any routes that include the metro. Confirm the destination station and the walking stretch: a route may require another means of transportation to reach the entrance of the place. Also look at how you'll get back before committing to an evening activity.
Booking activities
Go through the venue's official website. Check the date, ticket type, documents required for discounts and change conditions. Hours, prices and availability can vary; confirm them when you book.
Adapting your day
Have an indoor plan and an outdoor one. If the weather changes, rearrange the day before heading out and check whether your tickets allow changes. It's better to adjust one activity than to stick to a route that no longer makes sense.

The big celebrations of 2027
If you're traveling in high season, sort out your dates and routes before booking. Réveillon 2027 takes place on December 31, 2026; the main Tuesday of Carnival 2027 falls on February 9. Check the official programs for specific events.
