Choose based on your trip

Before booking accommodation, list the activities that interest you most. Then compare the exact location of each option, the route to public transportation and the services included. A neighborhood's name alone isn't enough to decide.

Copacabana and Ipanema

If you want to plan much of your trip around the coast, start with these areas. When comparing places to stay, look at the actual distance to the beach and to the station you'd use. The MetrôRio map shows stations such as Siqueira Campos, General Osório and Nossa Senhora da Paz.

Botafogo

Include Botafogo in your comparison if your plans combine different parts of the city. Check each day's specific routes and the last stretch from the station to your accommodation; being in a well-connected neighborhood doesn't mean every address is equally convenient.

Centro and the port area

Plan your cultural visits around reservations and programming. CCBB and the Museu do Amanhã can help you set two stops of interest without turning the whole outing into a race. If you're thinking of staying in this area, also consider how you'd get back at night.

Before confirming a booking

Compare the total price, the cancellation policy, recent reviews and check-in times. Ask the property directly if you need an elevator, a workspace or luggage storage. No general description of a neighborhood replaces that check.
