Add up the whole trip
Write down your flight with luggage, nights and lodging taxes, getting to and from the airport, transportation within the city, travel insurance, meals and tickets. Add a buffer for changes of plan. Use a single currency when comparing, and note the exchange rate applied at purchase.
Calculate per day and per person
Separate the fixed costs of the trip from the variable daily ones. If several people are traveling, check what's shared and what's charged per person. A timed ticket may shift your day; a meal or a transfer can be adjusted during the trip.
Special seasons
